Born on January 23, 1938 in Deutschbaselitz in Saxony, Georg Baselitz is one of the most important contemporary German painters. He is mainly known for his coarse brushwork and forceful colours. In the show celebrating his 85th birthday, Museum Würth 2's special exhibition area in the atrium focuses not only on paintings and sculptures but also on large-format print works and, thus, the artist's many forms of expression.
“Reality is the painting; it is certainly not in the painting.” Georg Baselitz
Museum Würth 2 itself covers 1,100 square meters of exhibition space and is complemented by a walkway with a daylight atmosphere in which the Baselitz work presentation of the Würth Collection is on display. The atrium leads our visitors to the main exhibition “The Long View. Reinhold Würth and His Art Collection”, which further shows works by the artist until March 19, 2023.
